Building House in Kram

All labors are now back from the new year vacation and there is full speed again. In little more than a day, the re-bars for the first floor is nearly ready. They will get the forms tomorrow and the concrete will be done before the end of the week. These ladies are experts on binding up the re-bars.

The beach was very busy when we went down to the beach today. Had to take a short movie.

The roof team have been working with the first roof beams. This will hold the roof on the low part of the house. Quite heavy and no crane, just a simple block and muscles.

Nothing have happened with the building progress over the new year, nearly everyone of the workers went to their homes. Four workers stayed to keep an eye of the material and site - they spend a lot of time fishing and relaxing. We used their free time to help us plant some trees on the part of the land that will be used as a fruit garden. One old neighbor man explained that he was an expert in planting and was doing most of the planting work. What kind did we plant? - Mangoes, mangosteen, longan, longon, rambutan, santol and some trees giving eatable vegetables (like stinking beans). The durian trees will planted later.

The weather is a bit boring today, it started raining this morning and it looks like it will continue the whole day. A storm over Vietnam is causing this weather. All workers are freezing today (only 21 degrees) and most of the work before the New Year is finished, so after taking of the forms from the pillars, the only thing to do the rest of the day is to eat, drink and dance. The sacks on the floor is to keep the floor moist. Ladies in one spot.. ..and the men in another.

Christmas Day and pillar work.

Today the Christmas starts. We now have a concrete floor on half part of the house. They needed many cubic meters of concrete to make it ready. The pillars for the roof is next.
